Installation instructions
Read this instructions carefully to make sure you end up with the best installation.
1 Checking the bridge-feet on the guitar top :
1.1 Put the bridge on the guitar top and check if the left and right foot of the bridge fit to the top. If there is no gap between the feet and the guitartop, then go to step 2.
1.2 Some guitars have a slightly arched top so it might be necessary to make a correction to the feet of the bridge. Stick the two little pieces of included adhesive sandingpaper next to the moustaches. Take the bridge and move forward and backward with the feet on the sandingpaper until they have the same shape of the guitartop. Please be carefull not to damage the leadwire of the bridge. Remove the adhesive sanding paper and check again.
Repeat until the feet of the bridge fit perfectly on the guitar top.
2 Checking the bridge height :
2.1 Put the bridge in place and string up.
2.2 Space the strings over the bridge and make cuts under the strings until you have the desired height. A 4 mm -space between the top of the 12th fret and the strings is recommended, but is subject to personal favour. Then sand the top of the bridge in a slightly rounded shape until there's max.1mm (low E) to 0,5 mm (heigh E) left of the cuts. Beware : stringslots which are too deep might cause string-buzzing on the bridgetop.
The smooth-sanded surface can be polished with a little piece of wood or leather.
Now the bridge is adapted to your guitar and ready to be installed .
3 Positioning the bridge-lead hole :
Place a masking tape between the two moustache ends.
Make a mark with a pencil in the middle between the moustache ends.
Drill a 2,5 mm hole through the guitar top.
4 positioning the endplug hole :
Remove the lowest screw from the tailpiece. Drill a 3mm hole first through the existing hole in the tailpiece and guitar-bottom.Then repeat in steps with a 5mm then 7mm ....and end up with a 12 mm hole.
Doing so will avoid breaking the metal of the tailpiece.
5. mounting the system :
5.1 lead the bridge-wire through the 2,5mm hole and bring the wire outside the soundhole.
5.2 Put a cloth on the guitar top to avoid scratching en lay the endplug next to the soundhole. Remove the protection tube of the endplug and lead the pickupwire through the back of the protection tube.
5.3 Solder the bare groundwire to the G and solder the white leadwire to IN.
use a max.25 watts soldering iron to prevent burning the contacts.
5.4 screw the protection-cover over the preamp.
5.5 lead a plain E string through the endpinhole at the bottom of the guitar and bring it outside the soundhole. Attach the string to the endpinplug and pull the plug through the endpinhole. Fasten the endpinplug.
5.6 Place the velcro-piece in the soundhole . If the wood feels rough at your fingertips, apply some fine sandingpaper to make the surface smooth. The glue of the velcro-piece needs a few hours to stick.
5.7 install a 9V battery in the metal holder and attach it to the velcro piece in the soundhole.
5.8 Tune up the strings and plug into an amplifier. The best results are achieved with an acoustic amplifier. Electric guitar amps also work fine but will need more tweaking in for that acoustic breath. Lowering the midtones on the amp will be helpfull, as well as searching for the best gain-setting.
6 Battery :
Remove the instrument cable from the guitar when not in use for a longer battery-life.
A distorded sound indicates that the battery should be replaced. When changing strings, the battery can also easily be replaced.
